Steampunk, close to Goth but not quite, certainly a fetish genre, has moved beyond Cosplay and into the realms of design and interiors. It's getting lush, and it was always inventive, a melange of eclectic-adventurer-mad-scientist-time traveler.They do, however, seem inexplicably obsessed with Octopi.

If you've seen the movies Hugo, Van Helsing, The Golden Compass and the like, you'll have tasted a flavor of the dark and quirky style of Steampunk in all its glorious mangled inventions. I really like the way Steampunk is being expressed in decor, particularly, given the fantastical invention themes, in areas such as electronics and gadgets.

Lighting is a fruitful and apt arena for the Steampunk ethos:
So where can you go with that in a whole room? Anywhere you like, as long as you have a steam driven air ship.
You can imagine this woman looking right at home here...
But if you like the look but don't fancy having to wear a bustle full time, incorporate it into an interior in a not so finite way:
